About Me
About  /  Jamie Steedman

A designer who
learned to edit.

Motion designer, animator and film editor. Edinburgh born and London trained, with twenty years across film, broadcast television, advertising and live events.

The story

From a runner’s job
to the edit suite.

I grew up in Edinburgh in a family of graphic designers, which is where the visual side of all this starts. In 2007 I moved to London for a runner’s job at a production company and worked my way up into editing and motion design.

Freelance came next, and with it a client base that has included ENVY Post Production, Saatchi & Saatchi, The Conran Design Group and WAG Entertainment. Twenty years on, the work spans film and television, advertising, corporate video and live events.

The design background never left. I still come at every project as a designer first, which usually means working out what a piece is meant to make someone feel before working out how to cut it.
